New seasons on the tube.

Prison Break Season 3

Premiering on September 17th was Prison Break on its third season. It just didn’t “grab” me like the first two seasons did. I don’t know about you, but even though it has that same cliffhanger ending for every episode, I feel like I’ve had enough of it. It’s like there isn’t really a definite ending to all of this running around (well not too much of this now though), killing off extras, holding people hostage, breaking out, blah blah blah. Or maybe I’m just too eager to find out what the brothers’ fate is after all of these. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see how everything ends up, and keep myself tuned in to this final season.

Heroes Season 2

Premiering the week after is Heroes Season 2. This, I anticipated so much more than Prison Break, believe it or not, probably because this revolves around the lives of several people who have super powers rather than just two brothers trading places in the slammer and out of it. I guess it’s just more interesting to watch superheroes (who don’t have to wear costumes!) trying to “save the world” and now trying to save themselves! And since there are a lot of people involved, there are built-in plots intertwined to make one hell of a show. Then again, maybe it’s because of this certain empath and that flying (new) kid… hmm… ;)

Nicholas D’Agosto

Okay, okay… so I do love Heroes more than I love Prison Break. Good-looking cast aside, seriously, if I were to pick one, it’s gotta be Heroes. I know, it may seem subjective, but maybe a lot of people who watch both might just agree with me.

I’m back… again.

I don’t know how many times I’ve gone on hiatus without warning (are there any people to warn at all?), but yes, I’m here again. The last couple of months have been pretty hectic. I’ve been swamped with work. Oh yes, I’ve been unofficially promoted as a team leader, mind you. By unofficially, I mean that I’m still being “observed” and “monitored”. Nothing written in stone. Psh. How sad is that? I’ve got twice or thrice the workload of an agent (that’s what voicemail transcriptionists are called), yet salary-wise, I earn as much as they do. Incentive-wise though, I earn the TL’s rate. But whatever. The point is, somehow, after all this time, I finally got “half-promoted”. Something to celebrate about, perhaps? Bah.

Ads, would you believe I just read your comments (and James’) on The Order of the Phoenix? How pathetic can this blog (or maybe I?) get? Oh well. Like I said, I’ve been busy. And yes, I will post a long overdue “review” on The Deathly Hallows. I am so lagging behind. So many things to blog about, so little time.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Well, anyway, to start off… Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I was thinking twice of having one reserved in advance and I felt the effect of my, um, thinking twice, on July 21st, when Talia sent me a text message, “Today is the day!” Oh, yes, I remember that. I hurried off to National Bookstore with high hopes of being able to procure an “extra” one. But of course, all the stocks that came in were reserved. I had one reserved on that very day, July 21st, and got it on, I believe it was, Tuesday following it’s worldwide release. So anyhow, that’s how I came to have my very own Book 7. ***Ads, I did laugh when Talia told me you began to weep when you opened the book to start reading.

At the open, I’m not quite sure I was completely taken away as J.K. Rowling seemed to have written the book in a different tone—or maybe it was just me. There were some parts that seemed dragging, but despite that, I couldn’t put the book down. I wanted to just get it done with. I am partly happy, partly sad with how the book ended. The biggest anticipation I had was Snape’s redemption. I wanted him to have been misjudged and wrongly accused so bad that I cried at the revelation on the Pensieve, and on the epilogue where Harry reveals to his son that his namesake were two of Hogwarts’ greatest headmasters. Snape was the hero—that’s the happy part, and I wish he didn’t have to die—that’s the sad part. I also didn’t want Lupin, Tonks and Fred to die. The only person I wanted out of the picture was Voldemort.

Overall, I’m just sad because as far as J.K. Rowling is concerned, there will be no more Harry Potter books. That’s the saddest part. Reading Harry Potter always makes me want to be a kid again.

The Order of the Phoenix.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

I had to watch it even if I had work at 9:00 p.m. I couldn’t let the first day of showing to go by without me watching it. I don’t know with the rest of you, but I think this time, even with the book with the most number of pages, the screenwriter has captured the important details of the book and managed to fit it in 138-minute film without causing any confusion… and the cast—I couldn’t help but notice how they’ve all grown up. So handsome and pretty, almost all of them. Almost all male actors portraying students have grown really tall and lanky. It’s kinda cute thinking how we’ve grown up together, with them experiencing teen angst, the first kiss, an unbreakable bond… Makes me feel like a child again.

I was thinking about the trailer where one line said: “A new order begins.” How could that be when the The Order of the Phoenix had been formed way back? Might have that been referring to Dumbledore’s Army, perhaps?

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Daniel Radcliffe must’ve been working out a lot. He looks mature. Emma Watson… well, she speaks too fast. And what happened to Rupert Grint and Matthew Lewis? Did someone try to pull them apart but wasn’t successful? You might have noticed they’ve already incorporated Ginny (Bonnie Wright) looking a bit serious every time Cho (Katie Leung) was hanging around Harry. That’s good, I think. And Kreacher… I read somewhere that J.K. Rowling made it very clear it is important that they show Kreacher in the film (even with just an appearance almost as short as that of Draco’s!). I understand they had to leave out some Draco (Tom Felton) scenes though. Evanna Lynch is just so adorable. She is Luna Lovegood personified. Fred and George (James and Oliver Phelps)—no such thing as two much of a good thing.  And for Bellatrix Lestrange (Helena Bonham Carter)… they couldn’t have gotten a better actor to play the part! One thing more… I love pink, but it seems repulsive on Dolores Umbridge (Imelda Staunton). Hem, hem.

OK, that’s a bit much. I have to go now… =/ Can’t wait for the seventh book!

P.S. My blog’s sort of turning into a movie/TV review site, eh?

Transformers

Transformers

Great, great, great movie. Great effects. Great soundtrack. Great reviews. Great everything. For a movie that I thought was intended for the male population, it completely blew me away. Movie goers young and old, male and female, would definitely love this film—one way or another, to some degree. Had I been in Shia LaBeouf’s shoes, playing the lead part in a movie that brings back the old school days, nostalgia and everything, this would be the ultimate dream come true. The fact that we were standing through the first quarter of the movie never bothered me the least bit. Couldn’t wait for the sequel(s)! Transformers is this year’s best movie. Well, so far. After all, before it was released, it already won the “Best Summer Movie You Haven’t Seen Yet” MTV Movie Award.

The future is not written in stone.

You saved the cheerleader so we could save the world.
—Nathan Petrelli, How to Stop an Exploding Man, Heroes Season 1 Finale.

What a great way to end a great season. I just finished watching the last two episodes and I am so looking forward to the second season on September 24. It was this scene that jerked me to tears. (BIGGEST HEROES SPOILER AHEAD!)

… or you could watch this video.

Does this mean Nathan dies?  Or has he been able to fly far enough from Peter just before he explodes and then lives?  One thing’s for sure though, Peter should definitely be back next season.  Can hardly wait.

Psssh.

I can’t help but notice that in the past few weeks my horoscopes happen to mention almost every thing I’m going through, and they’re trying to point me (?) to the right direction or maybe giving me ideas (?) of what would likely work out for me. I am not purposely seeking solace in them. I just happen to stumble upon them on the iGoogle page and Friendster. I should never rely on them, I know. Coincidence, perhaps. Lots of them.

I’ve been doing graveyard at work and I hate, hate, hate it. The only good thing out of that is the incentive and I get to watch The Today Show when I come home in the mornings. But, ugh, I’m backlogging on a web project because this schedule is killing me and I don’t have enough time to work at home after spending the night at the office. Fortunately, I’ll be on the A.M. shift by Monday. Thank God.

The Cast of Heroes, Season 1

Oh, yeah. Two more episodes and I’m done with Heroes, season 1. I’m behind, I know. (Of course, I like Peter Petrelli… and Hiro Nakamura.)

Barça at #2.

Beaten by Real by such a small margin. Tsk tsk tsk.

Know why I now dislike Eurosport? ‘Cause ever since it’s been transferred/bought or whatever at/by Yahoo, it’s always taking forever to load, even with a broadband connection.

Happy birthday, Lex!

It’s this little angel’s third birthday today…

Alexis
My best friend Sheena’s little angel…

Alexis
… Alexis.

… and I haven’t had the chance to be in any of her birthdays for these last three years! (And she wasn’t even 1-year-old when this picture was taken, I believe.) I miss you so much, you guys.  Hopefully, we could get together in November.  Mwah.  I love you both.

Hello.

I’ve been very, very busy lately.  The most that I can do when I get online is check and respond to e-mails, and check Friendster if I remember to.  This is one of those days.  Maybe I’ll blog again soon.

Movie buff.

Shawshank Redemption

After coming across an article on Shawshank Redemption, keeping in mind that it is second (by rating) on IMDB’s Top 250 movies (first by the number of votes) as of May 20, 2007, and one of my friend Mariel’s favorite movies, I’ve been meaning to get a copy of the video. I was not able to find a DVD anywhere, so I settled for a VCD copy. It is indeed one of the greatest movies I’ve ever seen. Mind you, this is the original Prison Break. Move over, Scofield. LOL. Kidding.

Not too long ago, bored at the office, I made a list of movies I want to see—old and new. I have been ticking off the list slowly since then, but would you believe I still haven’t seen The Godfather? Hah!

Shrek the Third

And since I’m all about movies on today’s post (o_O), why not talk about Shrek the Third? I watched it yesterday evening after having dinner with my friends. Yay for weekend last full shows! It still keeps up with the first two installments, though the second will always be my favorite. The gazillion babies in Shrek’s dream are just so cute and so adorable (I happen to love babies very much), and I happen to love Shrek and Fiona’s triplets just as much. So so so cute. Snow White was so, excuse my French, gaga. I could not find a better word, sorry. You can’t help but hate and love her at the same time—Amy Poehler rocked the part. It’s good to have the gang back. *I went over to the Shrek site and played the Shrek Sudoku game, and I’m sure this looks fine but can you tell me where I made a mistake on the third level?*

On May 16, one national paper said it was already showing at Robinson’s. Karla, Olumor and I immediately headed over to Robinson’s to see it. At the entrance, Shrek the Third wasn’t on the list (?) they have on the parking lot nor was it on the movie schedules inside the mall, and I talked to the ticket lady to confirm it wasn’t really showing that day. Stupid paper. We ended up watching The Reaping instead. I love Hilary Swank and all, but the movie wasn’t too impressive. It was just… okay.

Lastly…

Your Movie Buff Quotient: 46%

You are well on your way to becoming a movie buff.
You’ve seen many of the great films, and you have even probably developed an expertise in a few genres.

Are You a Movie Buff?

… yep, definitely on my way.

Ouch.

It’s my Tita’s birthday… so, happy birthday, Tita Tim!
